I love the small town feel. I love driving home after a tough day at work in downtown OKC and seeing open space and cows, rolling hills and horses as I come home.
I love my neighbors. I didn’t love our last neighborhood so much. Here, I know my neighbors names and they know mine. I know I could call upon them for help and they would do their best to assist, just like they know I would do the same.
I love that events are planned and people attend them. There is a sound sense of the importance of community responsibility and volunteerism here in P town. I also love the fact that folks stand and acknowledge the American flag when it passes by during parades. The flags lining the road during the recent Fourth of July events looked wonderful. I missed them when they were taken down.
I love Chinese food from the Piedmont diner. I love the way Crystal at Surrey Salon does my hair. I love the fact that City Stop carries postage stamps and that Jiffy Trip has great breakfast pizza and that they are open when I leave for work which is ridiculously early. I love the deep fried green beans at Chicken-n-Chops. I love my mail carrier who is friendly and waves at me every time he sees me out in the yard.
I love that I can sit on my deck Fall Friday nights and hear the football games. We don’t have any kids at home any more and it makes me feel connected.
